How Journaling Can Actually Rewire Your Brain & Shift Your Life
how to use journaling to shift limiting beliefs, tap into creativity, and step into your dream life
There’s something about journaling that has become one of my favorite ways to connect with myself. A space where I can meet the unfiltered, unedited version of me and the version of me I hope to become one day.
No exaggeration, journaling has been one of the most powerful tools in my healing journey and I used to hate it. But it’s how I’ve rewired my brain, began to somehow shift limiting beliefs, and manifest shit without realizing it. Writing is the bridge between my subconscious and my daydreams, between the version of me now and the version of me that has already stepped into everything she desires.
This is something I come back to again and again, and it’s a core part of what I’m building inside the portal of my brand House of Daydreams.
For so long, I was stuck in the narrative of being unhealthy, unhappen and uncertain about life. The same old beliefs and limitations ruminating over and over. What we believe is what we become until we decide to rewrite the script.
The Science & Magic of Rewriting Your Story
Brain rewiring is the process of consciously shifting your thought patterns, beliefs, and neural pathways to create new ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing life. Our brains are malleable, meaning we can break free from old conditioning, heal from past patterns, and rewire ourselves for more alignment. It’s like updating your internal operating system to better serve the life you truly desire and trust me, I know it’s not easy…it’s something I’m still very deeply in the process of.
Our thoughts create neural pathways and the more we think something, the stronger that pathway becomes. So if you’ve been telling yourself the same limiting belief for years (“I can’t figure things out” or “I’ll never have what I truly want”), it’s like a well-worn path in the woods, it’s the easiest one for your mind to follow.
But here’s the thing: You can carve a new path and this journaling practice is one of the most effective ways to do this.
When we write a new belief repeatedly, we start strengthening different neural pathways—ones that supports the life we actually want to live. The subconscious doesn’t know the difference between something imagined and something real. So the more we tell it a new story, the more it starts to believe it. So that’s exactly what I did. Everyday I started writing as if I was healed, as if doctors were shocked by how quickly my body recovered. How fulfilled I felt by friendships, community, my life and all the things I deeply hoped and desired would be true. Slowly but surely, my life started to shift, answers began to reveal and the breadcrumbs continue to unfold.
How to Start Rewriting Your Story
Here’s a super simple practice to start shifting your mindset and rewire your brain:
1. Identify the Old Story ✍️
What limiting belief have I been repeating to myself? (“I’m never gonna xyz”)
Where did this belief come from? Whose voice is it? (really explore this)
2. Rewrite the Narrative 🔄 (THIS IS KEY)
If I could completely rewrite my story, what would it be?
Write your life as if you were creating your daydream on paper. Putting words to the life you desire and everything you want to feel/experience. Envisioning your most authentic, free and aligned self.
3. Embody It 💫
Write as if it already happened “I’m so grateful to feel as healthy as I do”, “I can’t believe how connected I feel to such aligned community and friends” etc.
Imagine yourself already living this reality—how would it feel?
This is a huge part of my daily daydream practice and I cannot recommend it enough. It’s been slow and steady change, but it’s something I continue to do every single day and consistency/repetition are everything when it comes to rewiring our brains.
Daydreamer Club Challenge?✨
I’m thinking about creating a community journaling challenge where we go through this process together—exploring our desires, deepening our self-awareness, and uncovering more of what feels aligned for us. I’ll share prompts for introspection and self-exploration, and we’ll reflect and connect in a private group. This will be more than just journaling; it’ll be a journey of self-discovery, connection, and transformation as a community.
Whether you’re in a season of healing your body, deepening your connection to yourself, gaining clarity on your desires, or simply wanting to create space for self-reflection, this challenge is a way to gently guide you back home to yourself—one page at a time.
Would you be into that?
Let me know what you think and if you want to be part of it drop your info to JOIN THE CHALLENGE HERE and I’ll add you to the group :)
Sending love and hugs!!
